India Trade Promotion Organisation was set up on January 1, 1992, in
pursuance of the Government of India policy reforms in economy, trade & industry as an
enterprise of the Ministry of Commerce. It is a service organization set with the merger
of two premier export promotion bodies of India namely : Trade Development of
India & Trade Fair Authority of India. It provides a wide spectrum of services and
to trade and industry and act's as a catalyst for growth of India's trade. As a nodal
agency of the Government, ITPO approves holding of International trade fairs in India and
regulates holding of various expositions in India primary to avoid any duplication of
efforts and ensure proper timing. It manages India's only world class exhibition complex
which which is constantly upgraded to keep it in a high standard of readiness. Spread over
149 acres of prime land in the heart of India's capital, New Delhi, Pragati Maidan offers
54,685 square meters of covered exhibition space in 15 halls, besides 10,000 square meters
of open display area. The state of the art exhibition halls have enhanced the appeal of
Pragati Maidan as the ideal business center for an increasing number of fair organizers
and business visitors from around the world. The fair complex offers the kind of ambience
that is conductive to a variety of exhibitions featuring gigantic machinery and
equipment to delicate engineering products. ITPO's overseas offices are pursuing investment opportunities besides their activities aimed at promoting exports.
